Article: Launch of Summer Collection for Street Fashion Brand - Vogue De Rue by 8TIES
Hit the Street with Vogue Vibes and Cool Threads in Vogue De Rue by 8TIES
Get ready to elevate your street style with the latest drop from Since80s! Introducing "Vogue De Rue by 8TIES," our summer collection that promises to redefine urban fashion. Inspired by hip-hop culture, contemporary art, and a personal journey through the fashion world, this collection blends simplicity, style, and street elements that are sure to turn heads.
The Origins of Since80s: Music, Art, and Fashion
Since80s clothing was founded by Kevin Delhaye, a beatmaker turned fashion visionary. Kevin's journey began in the early 80s, the birthdate of hip-hop. Having collaborated with iconic artists and graphic designers like Alchemist, Schoolboy Q, and Curren$y, Kevin decided to channel his creative talents into fashion. Since80s is more than just a brand; it’s an organic fusion of music, art, and minimalist fashion, translating life experiences into vibrant, wearable art.
Introducing Vogue De Rue by 8TIES
The new summer collection, "Vogue De Rue by 8TIES," which translates to "Street Vogue" in French, draws inspiration from Kevin’s childhood. "When I was between 8 and 12 years old, I watched a lot of MTV shows and saw hip-hop celebrities wearing amazing brands in Vogue Magazine. That inspired me to create my own Vogue with a street twist," says Kevin. The collection includes heavyweight T-shirts in cream and anthracite, and knitted socks, combining style and comfort.
Made from 100% cotton for the T-shirts and a 90% cotton/10% nylon blend for the socks, each piece is designed to provide a regular fit that feels as good as it looks. The standout design, a collage of vintage women reflecting glamour, abstract art, and intrigue, was created by one of Kevin’s favourite graphic designers. "All my art is freestyle," the designer explains. "I was inspired by a lot of magazines from the 70s, and sometimes I just have the drive to go with the flow. This was an unplanned process - just creating."
Who’s It For?
Our collection is unisex, aimed at casual streetwear enthusiasts, art lovers, appreciators of fashion, dreamers and doers, all around the globe. It's perfect for those who appreciate style with substance, offering outfits that can also be effortlessly paired with shorts and socks for a chic summer look.
Why Choose Since80s?
In a world dominated by big brands, Since80s offers a fresh perspective. "I'm not reinventing the wheel; all I do is bring my own perspective to the fashion subject," says Kevin. Since80s stands proudly alongside established names like Stussy, offering unique, stylish alternatives for your wardrobe. Our campaign is set in the Democratic Republic of Congo, honouring Kevin's ancestral roots. Despite the ongoing challenges and conflict, we strive to highlight the country's beauty, rich nature, diverse culture, and vibrant youth, showcasing all that the Congo has to offer.

Concert Review: Rebecca Winter at Cokobar London
Meet Rebecca Winter, a black British-Nigerian superstar poised to dominate the Afrobeats scene in the UK and beyond. Her electrifying headline show at the renowned Cokobar London in October highlighted her immense talent and brought a powerful wave of #girlpower with her all-female lineup (including an incredible spoken word artist in the middle of her set!)
Having seen Winter perform as a supporting act before, I knew she delivered stellar performances with sleek dance moves that complemented her effortless vocals and Afrobeat productions. However, this headline performance surpassed all expectations—it was a spectacle reminiscent of Beyoncé’s early tours, filled with energy and flair.
From her stunning outfit and accessory choices to the dynamic dance breaks during syncopated instrumental sections, Winter made a hot impact on a cold autumn evening in London. The setlist spanned from upbeat, high-energy tracks to heartfelt, sultry ballads, showcasing her impressive vocal flexibility. Despite the small stage, Rebecca Winter, her band, and dancers utilised every inch, giving us an engaging performance.
Standing right at the front, I made eye contact with several of the performers, who shared smiles that mirrored the meaningful and fun lyrics, exuding pride and joy. Winter's musicianship and stage presence were unmatched, far surpassing the opening acts, who had already done such a brilliant job getting the crowd energised.
The audience remained captivated throughout the performance, thanks to Winter’s charismatic engagement and a little help from rising spoken-word star - Chloe. Despite a delayed entrance and a swift, slightly abrupt exit, Rebecca Winter said she came to slay—and that, she did.
Rebecca Winter’s ability to command the stage, engage the audience, and deliver an unforgettable performance cements her place as a rising force in the Afrobeats scene. Do not forget her name; she is destined for success.

Market Trends and Analysis Article: The Home Furniture Industry in 2024
The home furniture industry is going through significant transformation in 2024, having been working in this space for over the last 2 years, I've seen how it is driven by evolving consumer preferences, technological advancements, and sustainability trends.
This analysis goes deeper into the key factors shaping the market and what businesses can expect in the coming years.
1. Surge in E-commerce and Online Retail
The shift towards online shopping has accelerated, with consumers increasingly opting for the convenience and variety offered by e-commerce platforms. Major players like Wayfair, IKEA, and Amazon continue to expand their online presence, investing in augmented reality (AR) technologies to enhance the customer experience. AR tools that allow customers to visualize furniture in their homes before purchasing are becoming standard, driving higher engagement and conversion rates.
2. Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Furniture
Sustainability is at the forefront of consumer demand. Shoppers are more environmentally conscious, seeking furniture made from recycled materials or sustainably sourced wood. Companies are responding by integrating eco-friendly practices into their production processes and highlighting their sustainability credentials. Brands like West Elm and IKEA are leading the charge, with commitments to sustainable sourcing and reduced carbon footprints.
3. Rise of Multi-Functional Furniture
As urban living spaces become smaller, there is a growing demand for multi-functional furniture. Pieces that serve multiple purposes, such as sofa beds, extendable dining tables, and storage ottomans, are gaining popularity. This trend reflects a broader shift towards minimalism and the need for efficient use of space.
4. Personalised and Customisable Furniture
Consumers are increasingly looking for furniture that reflects their personal style and fits their specific needs. Customisable options are on the rise, with brands, such as Goodnesary Home offering bespoke services or modular designs that can be tailored to individual preferences. This trend is supported by advancements in manufacturing technologies, such as 3D printing, which allow for greater flexibility in design and production.
5. Emphasis on Health and Wellness
Health and wellness trends are influencing furniture design, with a focus on ergonomics and comfort. The demand for ergonomic office furniture has surged due to the increase in remote working. Products that promote better posture and reduce physical strain are becoming essential for home offices. Additionally, materials that contribute to a healthier indoor environment, such as hypoallergenic fabrics and low-VOC (volatile organic compound) finishes, are in high demand.
....
The home furniture industry in 2024 is characterized by a blend of tradition and innovation. Companies that adapt to e-commerce trends, prioritise sustainability, offer multi-functional and customisable products, and integrate health-focused and technological features will be well-positioned to thrive. Brand Copy: Keep that Fire Alive (Global Mororcycle Brand)
You hear that?
It’s much quieter on the open roads.
Sure, the leaves have fallen. Sure, the days are shorter, and sure most people retreat into the warmth of their homes seeking something more satisfying - warmth, light.
But for those who dare to defy the cold, seeking liberation on a pair of wheels, autumn isn’t the end; it’s the start of a new adventure.
And those of us staying grounded this season, the wanders checking their bikes are ready for the harsh winter weather, the dreamers, lost in the depths of their next road trip, the legends looking to make their mark on the highway, hunting for new gear to tailor their next trip; united we will ride.
Because that flame never fades. Use that fire to fuel your soul through the bitter chill.

Poem: #BLACKLIGHT
In the realm where shadows dance, a tapestry unfolds,
A narrative of strength and grace, in hues of black and gold.
Beneath the black light's gentle glow, stories intertwine,
A symphony of voices rising, like stars that brightly shine.
In the corridors of progress, where challenges may loom,
Resilience blooms like flowers, breaking through the gloom.
The workplace, a canvas, painted with diversity,
A mosaic of talents, each shining brilliantly.
Through trials and triumphs, like rivers that never cease,
The black experience weaves a tapestry of peace.
In the boardrooms of ambition, where dreams take flight,
#BLACKLIGHT illuminates the path, dispelling darkest night.
Ancestors whisper wisdom, a legacy passed down,
Roots anchored deep in history, wearing a regal crown.
From the cotton fields to corner offices high,
The journey's marked by courage, reaching for the sky.
Celebrate the triumphs, acknowledge the strife,
In the narrative of blackness, find the heartbeat of life.
For every glass ceiling shattered, a victory is won,
In the symphony of progress, let inclusion be the drum.
Black history month, a spotlight on the stage,
A tale of resilience, echoing through age to age.
#BLACKLIGHT beams with pride, a beacon strong and true,
Guiding us through history, where dreams and deeds accrue.
So, let the poem echo, like a melody refined,
A celebration of the black experience, a tapestry entwined.
In the workplace's dance, where diversity takes flight,
Underneath the #BLACKLIGHT, let's champion the light.

In the workplace's dance, where diversity takes flight,
Underneath the #BLACKLIGHT, let's champion the light.

Internal comms: The Power of Meeting Team Members in a Global Remote Team
Published: Accenture Sourcing Hub Newsletter
Being social is part of being human and working in a large, global, remote team like the Sourcing Hub offers incredible opportunities to tap into diverse perspectives, skills, and experiences of others. Also, remote work has become an essential way to collaborate across borders and time zones, however, it also comes with its unique set of challenges.
One powerful way to foster unity and maximise productivity within such teams is by engaging in the process of meeting new team members and understanding our differences.
But how do you get to know 80+ people?
Well, let’s explore some ways to meet at least 1 person! We'll also look at the benefits of meeting other team members and how they can help us cope with anything we face as a supportive community.
1. Europe Sourcing Newsletter - We will include a 'Meet the Team' section in the newsletter showcasing the forms of interesting facts several of you have filled! (Read, react and reach out!)
2. Sourcing Hub Coffee Roulette - The small but powerful team behind this initiative do well to create a schedule enabling new conversations on new topics every month!
3. A message in the #EuropeSourcingBantz Teams chat - You never know who has experienced the same thing as you; if you’re facing a challenge or have some good news to share, drop it in the chat, people react and respond publicly and privately.
And what exactly is the power and benefit of meeting team members?
1. Creating a Sense of Belonging
In a remote team, it's easy to feel isolated and disconnected from colleagues who may be thousands of miles away. When we take time to understand each other's backgrounds, cultures, and values, it helps to make everyone feel valued.
This, in turn, leads to improved collaboration, and increased motivation to work together effectively.
2. Promoting Diversity and Sensitivity

Internal Comms: The Power of Recognition on Workplace Success & Happiness
Published: Accenture Sourcing Hub Newsletter
In the day and age, where #FursDay photos 🐈 and coffee in the morning☕ brings us joy, and GIFs are a common choice of communication to express ourselves, recognition holds a special place. I’d like us to understand the importance of recognition in the workplace, learn how to share more of it, and of course, use data to tell the story of its significance.🥸
It...
1. Boosts Employee Engagement🤩 - Employee engagement is crucial for a company's success, as it leads to increased productivity, commitment, and positive vibes all around! According to a survey by Globoforce, 78% of employees would work harder if they received recognition. The study also revealed that 89% of employees who received recognition in the last month felt satisfied with their jobs.
2. Increases Productivity and Performance💪 - This benefits both individuals and the organisation as a whole. Research conducted by Bersin & Associates demonstrated that organisations with effective employee recognition programs had 14% higher employee productivity than those without.
3. Creates a team and an organisation you’re proud to be a part of🫂 - You’re here because you’re talented at what you do, so feel empowered to ask for feedback as well as give meaningful feedback to others. The WorkHuman Research Institute found that employees who receive recognition are 23.5% more likely to stay with their organisations.
To conclude, Recognition is a powerful tool that drives employee engagement, enhances productivity and performance, and fosters a positive company culture.
And not just partial feedback, for example: “You’re doing a great job!” but making it meaningful! So that means it’s timely, authentic, and specific; you make it personal, frequent and from your own experience with the individual(s).
✨Accenture’s Recognise program also introduced ‘The Inclusion Advisor’: the Industry’s first and only AI-driven in-the-moment coaching tool that offers micro-coaching to foster a culture of continuous learning when leaving feedback!✨...

Award winning Poetry Entry: 2020 Hope (A reversal poem)
Published: Kensington & Chelsea Art Week
2020 will be looked at as one big joke!
And I should not be of the opinion that
We’re receptive to change; we’re more alert, more woke.
We’re fixing the system; educating the ignorant.
That simply would not be true to say.
We are forever stuck in these terrifying times.
And I cannot bring myself to state:
2020 is the year for significant growth!
Now read this poem upwards for a more hopeful view on 2020…

Instagram Post: Movember Awareness
November is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. It's also known as Movember, as men grow mustaches to raise awareness of men’s health conditions, both mental and physical.
So, whilst I have no plans to grow a mustache🥸, I want to raise awareness through my creativity, specifically this piece I called 'Stigma'.
Stigma often makes it tough for men to seek mental health support openly, leading some to hide their emotions. However, mental health issues are no different from physical health, and seeking support or therapy is as reasonable as consulting a doctor about a broken arm.
We're talking about mental health more now than ever, so hoping things will change but in the meantime, check in on the men in your life🙏...

Instagram Reel: Comedy Show Promo Series
I'm a perfectionist.
(Probably one of the worst answers in an interview by the way 😂), but it's true! For someone who rarely achieves perfection, I absolutely love it!!!!
And you can practice every single detail or every word you want to say but when you're in the moment, the real you comes through!
(The crowd truly were B-E-A-Utiful by the way!😍)
But IMO when switching 'Practice Makes Perfect' to 'Practice Makes Progress'—here's what changes:
1️⃣ We embrace imperfection: No more pressure to be flawless! Progress means celebrating each step, even if it's a stumble or two.
2️⃣ We enjoy the journey: It's not just about the destination anymore. With progress, every practice session leads to unexpected discoveries.
3️⃣ We break free from perfectionism: Progress lets you focus on improvement, innovation, and the joy of mastering your craft, one step at a time. 💪✨
More feel-good moments to come!🙌

Print Magazine Article: The Courage to Follow Your Dreams
Publication: The Word Changes
Let’s take a mental car ride together. We could get in a car, turn up the music full blast and drive as fast as possible; they’re playing your favourite song, so it’s all good. Or we could get in a car, take our time to check the safety precautions, and then drive off at a steady pace, changing it up sometimes, but also taking time to acknowledge our surrounding. Which one would you prefer?
Life is sort of like these car journeys and there are people on either path, especially where our hopes and dreams are involved. You have the people that have their end goal on their mind saying, “I’m going to be an actor”, “a doctor”, “a rapper”, “a footballer”, “a star!” They try to do everything they can as quickly as possible from work experience to performances and they hope for quick results.
This is not the best way to follow your dreams as you tend to miss opportunities and it tends to be short-lived. You could end up in a crash that is hard to recover from. Rushing through life and experiences is not the way to achieve your goals; it needs to be about more than the money, the fame or the title. But we can give them credit for having the courage to get in the car in the first place.
When you find something that you are really passionate about, the courage comes naturally in your mind; you are ready to get into a car and put your key in
the ignition....

Online Magazine Article: 3 Rock vocal performances that will go down in history
Publication: WhatCulture.com
Because some songs just wouldn’t be as great without that vocal.
Can you imagine Gorillaz without the animated characters? Or The Rolling Stones - '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction’ without that guitar riff?
It’s the same with a lead vocal, and in rock that is usually the most significant, memorable, distinctive feature of a great song! The type of song that will go down in history, the type that crosses over to listeners of other genres, the type you can’t get out of your head.
Some of the greatest songs of all time would not be the same without them first coming out of the mouth of a gifted vocalist and just like a night out in a karaoke bar, these 3 songs without these vocals, just wouldn’t be the same.
It was hard to narrow down such a broad genre that contains some of the greatest vocal performances of all time, but here are 3 great ones that have stood the test of time.
3. Aerosmith and Run-D.M.C., ‘Walk This Way’
Now, this is a controversial one considering half the song is recorded by Run-D.M.C, a hip-hop group, but this is the version I'm sticking to. This vocal collaboration brought rap to a new audience and according to some YouTube comments could have been one of the beautiful things Martin Luther King dreamt of in his speech of unity! Not only did it remind people just how talented Aerosmith were, it opened doors for Run DMC.
Lead singer of Aerosmith Steven Tyler, who wrote the original lyrics, already
had a rapid-fire style in the original version but in this version, he still allows
his vocal attack shines through from his “1,2,3,4 count at the start and again
in each chorus. It is weaved in simultaneously with Joe Perry’s distinguishing
guitar part.
Rappers Joseph "Run" Simmons and Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels bounced off
each other in their verses but remained united which is very fitting given
that this song played a huge part in uniting rap and rock. While they did not
know what Tyler was saying when they first listened to the original song,
according to the D.M.C. autobiography, the conviction in their vocal
performance delivery transitioned seamlessly into Tyler’s chorus.
2. Survivor, ‘Eye of the Tiger’
Risin’ up to the challenge of their rivals is the legendary ‘Eye of the Tiger’ by
Survivor. With just a single vocal line in the song, led by Dave Bickler, the
story of Rocky is told. With the slashing of the chords mimicking the punches of an on-screen boxer and the dead string riff keeping the pace, Bickler’s vocals are there to add that edge, that grit and that fight...

Blog post: “I’m a lawyer, check out my shoes!”
Blog: The Trendy Lawyer
Each time I’m offered an interview or work experience in the legal sector I ensure I know the dress code before my arrival. Generally, you must be smart and polished, especially as a future upholder of the law, and if you’re looking to play a key part in the UK jurisdiction in the future, smart is the way to go!
With that being said, we are moving towards an age of comfort, and in some offices that means casual wear and relaxed clothing. While the legal industry does not seem to be changing, there are still ways for women to look the part and feel comfortable and relaxed at the same time - shoes are a big part of this.
Court heels should be closed-toe or dress shoes in a simple (not attention-grabbing) colour. Think black, grey, navy, or nude along with plain hosiery. This is perfect for any lgeal networking or formal events as well as interviews.
If it is a more business casual setting, some flat leather shoes, loafers or low heeled shoes will work well, or sandals (depending on the weather). So long as you put your best foot forward... in good-condition shoes, you'll make a great first impression.
Avoid anything too attention seeking from platform heels to brightly coloured trainers or flip flops. (You would think I wouldn’t need to mention this, but I have seen some interesting choices at legal events I’ve attended.)...

Embracing Mindful Decluttering: Your Guide to a Tranquil Autumn-Winter Transition
As the crisp autumn leaves give way to the serene hush of winter, it's the perfect time to embark on a journey of mindful decluttering. Creating a harmonious living space not only sets the tone for a cozy winter but also fosters a sense of mindfulness and tranquility. In this blog post, we'll explore the art of decluttering during the autumn-winter season and the importance of implementing effective storage solutions in your home.
The Mindful Transition:
The transition from autumn to winter is a natural invitation to reevaluate our living spaces. As the days grow shorter and colder, we naturally gravitate towards creating warm and comforting environments. Mindful decluttering involves consciously assessing the items in our homes, letting go of what no longer serves us, and embracing simplicity.
The Psychology of Decluttering:
Embracing a clutter-free space is more than just a physical endeavor; it's a journey that positively impacts your mental well-being. Decluttering allows you to create a calm and focused mindset, promoting mindfulness in your daily life.
Autumn-Winter Essentials:
As you transition from lightweight autumn jackets to cozy winter coats, apply the same principle to your living space. Pack away or donate items that are not seasonally relevant, creating space for winter essentials. This process not only declutters your home but also helps you stay organized.
As the autumn leaves fall and winter's embrace draws near, take the opportunity to mindfully declutter your living space. The journey towards simplicity and mindfulness begins with intentional choices and effective storage solutions. By embracing the art of decluttering, you're not only creating a serene haven for the winter months but also fostering a mindful and tranquil lifestyle...

Newsletter Article: Sweet Dreams are made of Zzzz💤
Newsletter: Accenture Internal Comms Wellbeing
Everyone is constantly juggling various aspects of life, from work and family to relationships and meal choices. Sometimes, it can feel like an endless loop throughout the day until you finally lay your head on the pillow for what should be a restful night's sleep.
But, are you genuinely getting a good night's sleep?🤔
Sleep is not just a luxury, but a necessity to be your best, as a well-rested mind is better equipped to handle stress, improves emotional resilience and helps you to navigate challenges with a clear head. Let's dig a little deeper shall we...
💤 Become a Productivity Powerhouse: Quality sleep directly impacts your productivity - think about making your favourite breakfast dish after a late night compared to an early night (one feels like it requires A LOT more effort!😩)
When you are well-rested, you can maintain focus for longer periods, keep your high energy levels throughout the day, and complete tasks more efficiently. This in turn improves your personal performance.
💤 Beware of the Caffeine Chronicles: The hero of many workday mornings is… caffeine! While many people feel a well-timed cup of coffee can instantly jumpstart your day, it's essential to use your coffee time wisely. Too much caffeine, especially regularly in the afternoon, could interfere with the balance of your sleep cycle, and this doesn't help too much with productivity. Like any superhero, it has its limits, so it helps to let caffeine (in all its forms - chocolate, tea, soda etc.) wear off before bedtime.
💤 Use Sleep as a Shield: Good sleep is like a sharpening stone for your mind. During the various sleep cycles, your brain consolidates memories, processes information, and enhances your cognitive functions. This means that after a good night's sleep, you wake up with a sharper mind, crucial for working effectively.
So, as you go through the routines and plans in your daily life, remember that a good night's sleep can contribute to how you feel and perform in the day, and caffeine could be more like an occasional guest star in your life, rather than the main act.☕🍫🫖...

Internal Comms: Stress Less Email Newsletter
Article: Accenture Internal Comms Email Newsletter
Hello Sourcing Hub,
Negativity is all around us – not the most orthodox way to start an email about less stress, but I will make it make sense. 😊 Unpleasant thoughts or situations are part of the human experience, but we can use them to learn about ourselves, or to even motivate ourselves.
Sure, there may be some days you don’t feel your best; there are several different factors that cause this and impact us all differently! It’s no wonder that 2 individuals going through the same experience could end up with very different perspectives based on their own processing of information and past experiences. My tip today (like last month’s positive thinking tip) will hopefully reduce the creeping pessimism or “negative vibes” that can so easily take over everyday life.
Moving forwards here’s something to consider, if you don’t already, to make your week a little easier, more productive and with less stress - it’s about reframing situations:
Stress Less Tip for the Month
'
REFRAMING NEGATIVE THOUGHTS & SITUATIONS AT WORK
Reframing is a positive psychology method that allows people to change their view on a situation – so stressful sights and bad days become moments of inner bravery, strength or growth.
The key to reframing is being aware of your thought processes and any patterns you catch yourself doing when something goes wrong (for example, I missed my calendar notification to post this email earlier this month and could have gone down a negative path of feeling disappointed and thinking, “I will never post again!”)
• Is this a realistic thought?
• Is this thought based on feelings or out of habit or do any facts support it?
• Is this situation black and white, or is more complicated than I thought?
• Can I do anything to fix it or prevent it from happening again?
The ultimate goal is to acknowledge that negative situations/ events will happen, and you cannot change the past or actions of others, but you can shift to a more positive mindset, focused on the present and what needs to be done. If you catch yourself in a negative thought, you can test out some of these questions and work towards overcoming negative situations...

Blog Post: Turn up your inner Kanye
Blog Site: Incredible Brilliant Youth
On a scale of one to ten, how Kanye do you feel today? That’s a question I’ve
recently been asking myself before I do something out of my comfort zone. That's since
having a great eye-opening session with the IBY youth board. Teresa Reynolds,
founder of IBY, put forward this notion of an “inner Kanye” and after a few minutes of
self-love brainstorming, it was fantastic to see how many positive things
we had to say about ourselves. I have really turned up my inner Kanye since then! But what does that mean for someone who isn't Kanye?
Over the years, Ye has been seen doing things one might consider a tad... unconventional, but one aspect you can’t deny is that Kanye loves Kanye! He genuinely believes: (get your best rap voice ready) he's the best of the best and nobody can test, because he's the incredible Kanye West. This mindset has also led him to achieve significant success, have ‘the biggest ego known to man’ (type that in Google Images and I’m sure he’ll come up) and also believe sweeping smug statements like this:
“I am God’s vessel. But my greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live.” – Kanye West (VH1 Storytellers, February 2009)
Now, I’m not saying you need to be exactly like Kanye and annoy those around you with how much of a god you are, but think about how you would feel if you gave yourself a confidence boost and just turned up your inner Kanye a little each day...

Blog Post Article: #NeighbourPrinciple: Would you like a snail with that drink?
Blog: The Trendy Lawyer
Anybody interested in a legal career is going to have to hear about the infamous “snail-in-the-drink” case, known officially as Donoghue v Stevenson [1932] AC 562. This is the case that expanded tort law and introduced the ‘neighbour principle’ – the duty to take care to not harm your neighbours. Tort law covers cases where someone’s wrongdoing has caused loss to another and a contract is not required for parties making a tort law claim.
The Donoghue v Stevenson case
Let me set the scene with the facts of the case that changed the face of tort law. Mrs Donoghue was with her friend in a cafe, sipping on some ginger beer that her friend had just bought her. All was going well until she began to feel ill before even finishing the drink. Why? I hear you ask. Well, this was because there was a dead snail in it!
As Mrs. Donoghue did not buy the drink herself, she could not sue for breach of contract (see how important facts are in law, down to the penny spending), so instead she brought forward a negligence claim. She claimed the manufacturers had a duty of care to make the bottles in a clean place that would not allow snails to get in.
In the case, Lord Atkin declared a significant statement saying, that we have a duty towards “persons who are so closely and directly affected by my act that I ought reasonably to have them in contemplation as being so affected when I am directing my mind to the acts or omissions that are called in question”. So #TakeCare.
And so the ‘neighbour principle’ was born and set for case law moving forward. So could an innocent act you’re doing, such as mopping a floor at work, impact a passer-by?...

Book: How to Stop Stressing About Stress: A guide for the pandemic and beyond
CHAPTER 1: WHY SO STRESSED?
Whether we are in the middle of a pandemic together or the middle of a stressful activity in our own homes, we all face testing times and go through some difficult stages in our lives. The developments in technology, social media, and more have provided us with benefits beyond our wildest dreams but along with that has come more complications compared to that of our ancestors. Still, do you ever see how certain people act and wonder, “How do they have it all together?” or “Why do I crack under the pressure and they don’t?” or “Why can’t I have the same amount of hours in the day as Yoncé?” My friend and I are slowly figuring that last one out, but a reason why others do well or at least appear to do so is usually because of their approach to stressful situations and the coping strategies and tools they use.
As a generation, we are generally more stressed and it increases just like the number of people in debt, the number of people who lose their jobs or their homes or their sanity. For many people, depression, anxiety, worry, and stress are part of their everyday lives.
We are in a new age – the Age of Anxiety and according to The Times; anxiety has now become an epidemic for young people with numbers rocketing within the group due to exam pressures, uncertain career plans, and further education worries. They have not yet seen the full force of life’s uncertainties in play in the 21st century that causes many people to live in a state of worry and fear...

Good morning Sourcing Hub,
Do you ever feel tired or unproductive at work? Keep reading - you wouldn't be alone! It's not uncommon to reach a midday slump or for energy levels to change after a weekend or break away from work. But don't lose hope or your focus - there are several tips and tricks to tackle this feeling from implementing an ideal night-time routine for better sleep to ensuring you have a balanced diet and regular physical exercise for energy.
But I will be sharing a tip as old as time, a tip that several scientific studies have shown a short one can have a positive impact on both your physical and mental health - that's a lot of relaxation packed into just a few minutes! 😊
Stress Less Tip for the Month
HAVE YOU TRIED A NAP?
You may think napping during the day is a no-no, especially in such a large organisation, but studies have shown that a quick snooze (not a full-on sleep session) can improve your cognitive function by up to 34%![1] That means, you can actually be more productive by taking a nap!
Napping can also reduce your stress levels and help if you're ever feeling a little grumpy or groggy by triggering the release of endorphins to boost your mood and overall wellbeing.
Of course, you don't want to overdo it as a nap that's too long can make you feel worse and less productive, so if you’re ever feeling a lack of energy or focus, set a timer for no longer than 10-20 mins and have a nap or rest your eyes. After all, a well-rested employee is a productive employee!

Print Magazine Article: Breakdown of Relationships
Publication: Youngers Magazine
Social psychologists have searched to come up with reasons and causes for the breakdown of relationships. The research has been beneficial for real life situations as we now see relationship break down being prevented via counselling.
In 1991, a psychologist called Duck devised 3 reasons why relationships break down. Firstly, there is a lack of skills. For example, if somebody lacks poor social skills, they will not be able to express their feelings to their partner or to others in a social setting, and this can cause dissatisfaction in a relationship.
Secondly, there is the lack of stimulation due to a lack of communication. In 1994, Psychologist Baxter conducted some questionnaires and found boredom was a main factor of why relationships broke down. individuals would feel the relationship is not going anywhere and without stimulation, which is a rewarding factor in relationships, the relationship will break down.
Lastly, if there are maintenance difficulties, the relationship is at risk. Shaver et al found students going off to university tended to have a breakdown in their relationship because they could not reunite regularly. The relationship can not be rewarding for those involved if there is no regular contact, so the relationship breaks down.
It is clear that poor communication is the root of a break up. The more you talk, the stronger your relationship will be! This applies to friendships, families, work relationships, church relationships and our very own personal relationship with God.
1 Chronicles 16:11 tells us to “seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.” Talk to Him daily before you find yourself going through stages of a break up. God is there all the time when we need Him, so just take some time out of your day to have a chat, improve your communication skills, stimulate your brain and reunite regularly with Him. Not sure how to communicate? Close this magazine and Look at the very last page for some ideas.
